There are two kinds of guys in the world – keepers and users. Distinguishing the two is not always as easy as it seems, especially early in the relationship. Knowing the signs to look is the best way to avoid wasting your time on the users of the world.
#1. He Can Cook
Everyone loves a man who can cook. If your boyfriend knows his way around the kitchen, he is definitely a keeper. He is even more of a keeper if he likes to go to the grocery store as well.
#2. He Gives You Flowers Just Because
If you come home to roses when it is not Valentine’s Day or your birthday, you know you have a good one. Most guys can’t remember to send flowers when the ads are screaming at them and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If your boyfriend is romantic enough to send flowers just because, he may be worth holding on to.
#3. He Takes an Interest in What You Do
If your boyfriend asks about your job and actually listens to what you have to say, he may be a keeper. Many guys would be hard pressed to even explain what their girlfriends do for a living. A man who takes an active interest is definitely a prize.
#4. Your Parents Like Him
Bringing a new guy home to meet mom and dad is always a crapshoot. Chances are your parents have been less than enamored with a past boyfriend or two. If your parents love your boyfriend as much as you do, you might want to keep him around.
#5. You Like His Friends
You can tell a lot about a guy from the company he keeps. If your guy has great friends, that is good news for you. On the other hand, if he likes to hang around with jerks it might be because he is one.
#6. He Quit His Job as Soon as He Moved In With You
Your guy might be a user if he quit his job before his boxes were unpacked in your home. Too many guys are looking for people to take care of them – there is no reason to waste your time or money on a user.
#7. He Thinks You Are His Mom
If he expects you to cook his meals, pick up his dirty underwear and do his laundry, he might want to look for a maid instead of a girlfriend. You should be his lover – not a replacement mommy figure.
#8. He Spends More Time with His Friends Than With You
If every night is boys’ night, you are probably dating a user. An occasional night out with the guys is no big deal, but occasional is the key word. If he stops for drinks on the way home from work every day and is routinely late for your dates, you might want to move on.
#9. He Falls Asleep After Sex
Sex should not be all about his needs. A good guy is willing to put in the effort and make sure you are as happy as he is. A guy who rolls over as soon as he gets what he wants is definitely a user. It’s even worse if he starts texting right after sex.
